During the halftime ceremony last Sunday October 17th, the 49ers honored 49 breast cancer survivors. This was actually my first time attending an NFL game and I was thrilled to see the team participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Month. While the football players are much bigger in person nothing compares to the strength of these breast cancer survivors. The NFL’s season goes from September to January but organizations such as Stanford Medicine, Susan G. Komen and the American Cancer Society work all year long to help find a cure, promote early detection, awareness and treatment. The symbolic Breast Cancer shade of pink was present throughout the game from branded footballs to players gloves and pads.
