One “Hot” Summer Project in NYC
New York City was in the middle of another three day record breaking heat wave. A transponder blew in Queens cutting off electricity to hundreds of homes and leaving yours truly with no lights or air conditioning the night before a big deadline. Oh well, just another day in the life of a traveling freelance web developer.
In retrospect, it was totally worth it. I had the great opportunity to spend my summer working with Wilhelmina Models on a microsite and national campaign to promote the 2010 Hot Body Model Search Presented by Shape and Men’s Fitness.
The photography, site design and campaign graphics were all produced in-house with the help of the Wilhelmina Marketing team. I used the 960 Grid System with Adobe InDesign CS5 for quick site mock-ups and the final production site was completed using Joomla and the T3 framework by the good folks at JA.

The first phase of the project required upgrading many of the 2009 campaign elements. Starting with the logo, we revisited and happily updated every campaign element. Because of its unparalleled speed in working with linked assets, layout and type controls InDesign was an indispensable tool for prototyping everything from print ads to web pages.
The campaign is live so look for another update in February after we announce the two grand prize winners. In the meantime check out the ads in both Shape and Men’s fitness Magazines and don’t forget to enter the search by November 17th for your chance to win a five year Wilhelmina Modeling contract.
